Ian Steel James Lloyd – Managing Director

James found his way into the waste industry after completing his MSc, attracted by the moral and ethical rewards and challenges offered by one of the fastest growing environmental industries. His initial position after graduation was as an integrated waste procurement technical consultant. This was followed by a role in local government as manager for a 25 year £800 million municipal waste contract. This experience gave him a taste for management by offering control over the direction waste projects could take. The opportunity to take a nascent technology company like HotRot in the burgeoning UK waste market was too tempting to refuse and in 2005 he accepted the position of HotRot’s UK Managing Director.

Over this 4 year period James has restructured the company and revitalised the business opportunity pipeline. HotRot UK currently have planning permission to develop three large scale composting facilities with a total capacity of more than 100,000 tonnes of waste per year, all to be delivered in 2009/10.

James Spreull James L. Spreull (Chief Engineer)

This multi disciplinary role had full responsibility for production, development, maintenance and transport for 20 concrete and 2 Mortar production facilities.

After 20 years in the Readymixed Concrete Industry and the acquisition of the RMC by Cemex James joined HotRot as a Project Engineer in 2005 and is Head of Engineering for the company.

Since joining HotRot James has worked on a broad range of composting projects, treating various waste materials.  James is responsible for all HotRot operations, including site trials, installations, staff training and installation and process design from locations as far away as the Western Isles of Scotland, Ireland to South East England.

“As a person with a passion for a challenge and problem solving, I have found the waste industry offers me plenty of scope."

Ian Steel Foster Walker – Project Manager

Foster is originally from New Zealand, however has spent the last 5 years in Australia, where he worked for an iconic Australian dairy company and a respected environmental consultancy. Foster and his partner decided it was time to leave the warm weather behind and venture to the UK to work and travel. Foster’s background is in environmental planning and management. Foster’s most recent project before arrival in the UK was that of a large rail infrastructure project in the western suburbs of Sydney, where he was involved in the initial stages of planning through into construction.

Foster is delighted to be given this opportunity to become the newest member of the HotRot UK team as a Project Manager. Foster looks forward to being involved in the exciting projects that HotRot has been progressing and helping to develop the HotRot brand.

Ian Steel Jacqui Merryweather – Office Manager

Jacqui’s work life has seen her in a variety of administrative and management roles ranging from legal secretary, school secretary and administrator for a professional theatre company. Before marrying and raising a family she spent a number of years as a real estate agent carrying out market valuations and negotiating sales. She undertook a full time degree course as a mature student and holds a BA in Humanities.

Jacqui enjoys the variety of her role as Office Manager at HotRot. No two days are ever the same and tasks range from running the accounts and assisting with business development through to setting up and refining of administrative systems.

Having two teenage children who are passionate about the sport of basketball means that Jacqui has limited free time outside of work. Most of her weekends and evenings are spent at basketball training sessions or National League matches, and she has latterly taken over the role of team manager for the Ipswich Bobcats.
